Regional Express (Rex) has responded to the continuing rise in oil prices by announcing that the airline will have to increase its fuel surcharge by $4.00 (including GST) per sector effective on all sales from 02 July 2008. This will see Rex’s fuel surcharge increase from $40.00 to $44.00 per sector.

Regional Express (Rex) today released its third quarter unaudited results, which show the group’s profit before tax rising from $7.6m in the same quarter last year to $8.2m this year, or a rise of 8%.

Regional Express (Rex) has today announced a number of network schedule changes as a result of the continuing pilot shortage. Rex will withdraw from the Cooma (Snowy Mountains) to Sydney route indefinitely, which had been planned to recommence from 6 June 2008, as well as reducing flying activities elsewhere in the network.

Rex today announced that due to seasonal fluctuation in demand it would be reducing frequency between Kangaroo Island and Adelaide for a short period between Tuesday 20 May 2008 and Sunday 13 July 2008. The suspension will only apply to the evening service departing Adelaide at 6.55 p.m. and returning from Kangaroo Island at 7.50pm that operates Sunday to Friday inclusive.
